About the Job Opportunity
Each A+ instructor represents a unique combination of talent, achievements, and aspirations. We ensure that all our instructors have the opportunity to bring their individual styles and attributes to the job, because we believe that the best teachers are those who take personal pride in their work.

We expect that our instructors be excellent communicators and positive motivators for their one-on-one students. In return, we grant our instructors considerable flexibility and autonomy. This means that while we provide extensive training on our curriculum and programs, and ongoing support from a highly experienced management team and mentoring program, we also offer instructors the freedom and responsibility to utilize their experience and instincts in creating the ideal program for each student.

A+ instructors work anywhere from 5 to 20 hours per week, and all instructors determine their own schedules. Our relationships with schools and counselors and our reputation in the community mean that A+ instructors work with a steady stream of clients for the SAT, Subject Tests, ACT, Study Power (study skills) and ISEE/SSAT, as well as hourly subject tutoring. Naturally, meeting with students in their homes means that lessons typically take place in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Students also have additional availability during the summer and break periods. We have opportunities for instructors throughout Montgomery and Bucks Counties, and the Main Line area.

We provide ongoing professional development opportunities to further extend both your capabilities and your job satisfaction. Merit is rewarded at A+ through increased opportunities and increased compensation. A+ also provides you with industry leading technology to maximize your teaching time and minimize your administrative tasks. The A+ extranet interconnects management, instructors, students, and parents so that you have 24-hour a day access to your client information, your lesson notes, your students' practice tests, your calendar, your payroll, and feedback from your directors.

With more than 14 years of test prep experience, the A+ management team - Dan Ascher, Lynn Garrison, Anne-Marie Mettus, and Susan Ware - is made up of entrepreneur-directors who work diligently with students and their families to provide the best possible match between client and tutor. We are also dedicated to continually improving the training, curriculum, and job experience provided to all of our instructors.

Sharon Tucker
Subjects: SAT Verbal, Elementary Math, Elem through HS Reading and Writing Skills, and Study Power
Instructor since 2001

"As both a recent college graduate and a transplant to the Philadelphia area, I wanted a flexible part-time job that was fulfilling and rewarding. Working for A+ provides an outlet to extend a helping hand, see results, receive acknowledgment for my efforts, and continue to exercise my mind. Tutoring keeps my mind active. Most of all, I enjoy tutoring not because I can share my experience and teach others, but for all that I can learn from others!!"

Anson W. Han
Subjects: SAT Math, HS Math and Science
Instructor since 2005

"The SAT program at A+ is structured enough to provide a solid framework for the student, but flexible enough that adjustments can be made to meet each student's needs. The length of the program gives student and tutor enough time to develop a rapport and find what works best in each situation. Beginning months in advance avoids the rushed feeling of trying to cram three months of practice into a couple of weeks."

Brian Gillin
Subjects: SAT Math and Verbal, Writing Skills, MS and HS Math
Instructor since 2001
